curmudgeon
意味: A bad-tempered, difficult, and often elderly person who habitually complains about modern life and resists change.
Curmudgeon is a noun (unlike most of its synonyms, which are adjectives) and carries a particular cultural archetype — the grumpy old man who disapproves of everything new. In British English, it is frequently used with affection and even self-deprecation. Newspaper columnists sometimes adopt the 'curmudgeon' persona deliberately. The word can be endearing rather than purely critical.
