covalent
意味: Relating to or denoting a chemical bond formed by the sharing of one or more pairs of electrons between atoms.
Covalent bonding is one of the three primary types of chemical bond, alongside ionic and metallic. In a covalent bond, atoms share electron pairs rather than transferring them, resulting in stable molecules. Single, double, and triple covalent bonds involve the sharing of one, two, or three pairs of electrons respectively. Covalent compounds typically have lower melting and boiling points than ionic compounds. Water (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), and methane (CH₄) are all held together by covalent bonds. The term is essential vocabulary for GCSE and A-level chemistry.
例文
