apprise
意味: To inform or notify someone of a situation, development, or fact, especially in a formal or official capacity.
Apprise is a formal synonym for 'inform' or 'tell,' almost always used in the construction 'apprise someone of something.' It is favoured in military, diplomatic, legal, and corporate communication where the formality signals the importance of the information being conveyed. It should not be confused with 'appraise' (to assess the value of something), a very common error. It is rarely used in casual speech.
