acute
意味: Of a disease or condition, severe and sudden in onset but typically of short duration; also meaning sharp, keen, or perceptive.
In medicine, acute is the opposite of chronic. An acute illness develops rapidly and requires immediate treatment, such as acute appendicitis or an acute asthma attack. Beyond medicine, the word has broader meanings: an acute shortage, an acute sense of smell, or acute intelligence. In geometry, an acute angle is one less than ninety degrees.
