Tag questions and indirect questions

はじめに

付加疑問文（tag questions）は会話英語、特にイギリス英語の特徴的な表現です。「It's nice, isn't it?」のように文の後ろに短い疑問を付けて、確認したり同意を求めたりします。

間接疑問文は丁寧なお願いやフォーマルな場面に欠かせません。「Where is the station?」の代わりに「Could you tell me where the station is?」と聞く——語順が変わるのがポイントです。

日本語では「〜ですよね？」で自然に確認できますが、英語の付加疑問文は動詞に応じて形が変わるので少し複雑。でもこれを使いこなせると、会話がぐっとイギリスっぽくなりますよ。
