Simple passive constructions

はじめに

受動態は、動作をする人から動作を受ける人・物に焦点を移す表現です。「The chef cooked the meal（シェフが食事を作った）」の代わりに「The meal was cooked (by the chef)（食事は（シェフによって）作られた）」と言えます。

日本語の「〜される」「〜られる」に似ていますが、使い方のニュアンスは少し違います。英語の受動態は、フォーマルな文章やニュース報道、そして「誰がやったかわからない・重要じゃない」場面で特に多く使われます。

基本レベルでは、現在形と過去形の受動態を学びます。これが日常で最もよく使われる受動態のパターンです。堅い文章だけでなく、日常会話でも意外とよく出てきますよ。
