Perfect continuous tenses and future in the past

はじめに

上級レベルでは、最も洗練された時制の組み合わせをマスターしましょう。現在完了進行形は、活動の「継続性」と「期間」を強調する——単純形にはできない表現です。

「未来 in the past（過去から見た未来）」は、複雑な物語や間接話法に欠かせません。過去の時点から、何が予定されていたか・何が期待されていたかを表現する力は、ニュアンス豊かなストーリーテリングを可能にします。

日本語では「〜していた」「〜するはずだった」で似たことを表現しますが、英語の時制システムはもっと精密。これらの時制は英語の時間表現の頂点であり、出来事をどう「フレーミング」するかを完全にコントロールできるようになります。
