Woke
意味: Aware of and attentive to social injustice, especially regarding racial inequality.
Originally used in AAVE to mean staying alert to systemic racism and discrimination, 'woke' entered mainstream American English around 2014 during the Black Lives Matter movement. It has since become politically polarizing — used positively by progressives and pejoratively by conservatives to mock perceived excessive political correctness.
