Streaming has two meanings in American culture: watching content on-demand (Netflix, Spotify) and broadcasting live to an audience (Twitch, YouTube Live). Streamers — people who broadcast themselves gaming, chatting, or creating — have built massive audiences and careers. The 'streaming wars' between Netflix, Disney+, and others became a defining media story.
