Mensch
意味: A person of integrity and honor; a genuinely good, decent human being.
Being called a mensch is one of the highest compliments in NYC's Yiddish-influenced vocabulary. It means someone who does the right thing, treats people well, and has strong moral character. It's the opposite of a schmuck. 'Be a mensch' is common parental advice meaning 'be a good person.'
