Significado: Relating to citizens or the state; polite but not friendly
Civil relates to ordinary citizens and the state, as opposed to military or religious matters. 'Civil rights' are the rights of citizens. 'Civil war' is war between citizens of the same country. 'Civil service' is government administration. As an adjective describing behaviour, 'civil' means polite but not warm ('at least be civil to her').
