Significado: The length of time someone has lived; a historical period
Age refers to how old someone or something is, or a period in history ('the Ice Age', 'the digital age'). 'Under age' means too young legally. 'Of age' means old enough. 'Ages' informally means a long time ('I haven't seen you in ages!'). As a verb, it means to grow older.

From Old French 'aage' (modern French 'âge'), from Vulgar Latin 'aetaticum', from Latin 'aetas' meaning 'lifetime, epoch', contracted from 'aevitas', from 'aevum' (lifetime, eternity). The same ancient root gives English 'eon' and 'ever', and is related to Greek 'aion' (age, eternity).
