virtue
Significado: A quality considered morally good or desirable in a person, such as courage, honesty, or compassion; behaviour showing high moral standards.
In classical philosophy, the four cardinal virtues are prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude. Aristotle's virtue ethics argues that moral character is developed through habit and practice rather than by following rules. In modern usage, 'virtue signalling' has become a pejorative term for publicly expressing moral values to demonstrate one's good character rather than out of genuine conviction. 'By virtue of' means 'because of' or 'through the power of' — a separate idiomatic use.
