urbanisation
Significado: The process by which an increasing proportion of a population moves from rural areas to cities and towns, and the resulting growth and expansion of urban areas.
Urbanisation is one of the defining trends of the modern world. Britain was the first country to undergo mass urbanisation during the Industrial Revolution, and by 1851 more than half the population lived in towns. Globally, over 55% of people now live in urban areas, a figure projected to rise to nearly 70% by 2050. The term encompasses not just population movement but also the social, economic, and environmental transformations that accompany city growth.
