tomography
Significado: An imaging technique that produces detailed cross-sectional images of the body by directing radiation or sound waves through it from multiple angles, most commonly encountered in CT (computed tomography) scans.
Tomography underpins several major diagnostic technologies, including CT scanning, PET (positron emission tomography), and optical coherence tomography. The key principle is the creation of 'slices' through the body, which a computer assembles into detailed two- or three-dimensional images. CT scans are among the most frequently ordered imaging studies in modern medicine, used to investigate injuries, infections, tumours, and vascular conditions.
