Significado: A tax or duty imposed on imported or exported goods; a schedule of prices or charges for services.
Tariffs are a tool of trade policy, used to protect domestic industries by making imports more expensive. They can provoke retaliation and trade wars between countries. In British English, tariff also commonly refers to a pricing structure for utilities (electricity tariff, phone tariff) or sentencing guidelines in criminal law.
