syllogism
Significado: A form of deductive reasoning consisting of two premises and a conclusion, where the conclusion follows necessarily from the premises.
The syllogism was first systematised by Aristotle and remains a foundational concept in formal logic. The classic example — 'All men are mortal; Socrates is a man; therefore Socrates is mortal' — illustrates the structure. In everyday use, the term can refer to any piece of reasoning that follows a similar deductive pattern, and 'syllogistic' is used as an adjective to describe such reasoning.
