stigma
Significado: A mark of disgrace or shame associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person; social disapproval that discredits someone or marks them as different.
Stigma is a powerful social force that can prevent people from seeking help or disclosing aspects of their lives. Mental health stigma has been a particular focus of campaigning in Britain, with organisations like Mind and Time to Change working to reduce it. HIV/AIDS stigma, disability stigma, and the stigma of poverty are other well-documented forms. Sociologist Erving Goffman's influential 1963 work 'Stigma' analysed how it operates. In botany, the stigma is the receptive tip of a flower's pistil.
