respondent
Significado: A person against whom a petition, appeal, or legal application is brought, required to respond to the claim or challenge.
Respondent serves as the counterpart to appellant in appeal proceedings and to petitioner in family law and judicial review cases. In British divorce proceedings, the respondent is the spouse against whom the petition is filed. The term is also widely used in social research to denote a person who answers a survey or questionnaire, though the legal usage predominates in formal contexts.
