redundant
Significado: No longer needed or useful; (in British English) dismissed from employment because a job no longer exists.
Redundant has a distinctly British employment sense that differs from its general meaning. 'Being made redundant' is the standard British phrase for losing one's job due to the role being eliminated. More generally, redundant means superfluous or no longer necessary — 'redundant technology,' 'redundant information.' In writing, 'redundant' describes unnecessary repetition. In engineering, 'redundant systems' are backup systems, where redundancy is actually desirable.
