protagonist
Significado: The leading character in a story, play, or film; the main figure in a real event or situation.
In literary terms, the protagonist is the central character around whom the plot revolves, often but not always a hero. The antagonist is the opposing force. In broader usage, protagonist can refer to the leading figure in any situation, such as 'the chief protagonist of electoral reform.' Some usage guides object to this broader sense, but it is now well established. Note that 'protagonist' already means 'chief actor,' so 'main protagonist' is technically redundant.
