plagiarism
Significado: The practice of taking someone else's work, ideas, or words and presenting them as one's own, without proper acknowledgement or attribution.
Plagiarism is considered a serious academic offence and can result in penalties ranging from a failed assignment to expulsion. Universities use plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin to check submitted work. Plagiarism is not limited to copying text verbatim — it also includes paraphrasing without attribution, self-plagiarism (resubmitting one's own previous work), and ghost-writing. In journalism and publishing, plagiarism scandals can end careers.
