partisan
Significado: Showing strong, often uncritical support for a particular party, cause, or person; biased in favour of one side. As a noun, a committed supporter or, historically, a member of a guerrilla resistance force.
Partisan has two distinct branches of meaning. In politics and media, it describes allegiance so firm that it compromises objectivity — 'partisan reporting,' 'partisan divide,' 'partisan interests.' In military history, particularly of the Second World War, it refers to irregular fighters operating behind enemy lines, as in the Yugoslav or Soviet partisans. The political sense is almost always critical, implying that loyalty has overridden reason. It collocates with 'partisan politics,' 'partisan lines,' 'fiercely partisan,' and 'partisan warfare.'
