participle
Significado: A verb form used to create compound tenses or as an adjective, typically ending in '-ing' (present participle) or '-ed'/'-en' (past participle) in English.
Participles occupy a hybrid position between verbs and adjectives. The present participle combines with 'be' to form continuous tenses ('she is running'), whilst the past participle combines with 'have' for perfect tenses ('she has run') or with 'be' for the passive voice ('it was broken'). Dangling participles, where the implied subject is unclear, are a common writing error.
