mitigation
Significado: The action of reducing the severity, seriousness, or painfulness of something.
In environmental policy, mitigation refers specifically to efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit climate change — as opposed to adaptation, which involves adjusting to its effects. In law, mitigation or mitigating circumstances are factors that may reduce the severity of a sentence. The phrase in mitigation is a standard legal expression.
