erosion
Significado: The gradual wearing away of rock, soil, or land surface by natural forces such as water, wind, or ice.
Erosion is a natural geological process, but human activities such as deforestation and overgrazing can dramatically accelerate it. The term is widely used figuratively to describe the gradual decline or destruction of something abstract, such as the erosion of civil liberties, public trust, or living standards. Coastal erosion is a particularly pressing issue in the United Kingdom.
