empower
Significado: To give someone the authority, confidence, or means to do something. To make a person or group stronger and more capable of controlling their own situation.
Empower has become one of the defining words of contemporary social and political discourse. It appears in discussions of gender equality, community development, education, and workplace culture. While 'authorise' grants formal permission, 'empower' grants capability and confidence — the distinction is between institutional power and personal agency. Critics sometimes dismiss it as vacuous when used without concrete action behind it. The noun 'empowerment' is equally prevalent.
