displacement
Significado: The forced movement of people from their homes due to conflict, disaster, or development; in psychology, a defence mechanism in which emotions are redirected from their original target to a safer substitute.
Displacement is used across multiple fields. In humanitarian contexts, 'internally displaced persons' (IDPs) are people forced from their homes but still within their country's borders — distinct from refugees who cross international borders. Climate displacement is an emerging concern. In physics, displacement measures the volume of fluid moved by an immersed object. In psychology, displacement is a Freudian concept where emotions are redirected — for example, anger at a boss expressed towards a partner.
