In mathematics, cubic refers to expressions or equations involving a variable raised to the third power, such as a cubic equation. In everyday and scientific usage, it describes volume measurements (e.g. cubic metres, cubic centimetres). The term also appears in crystallography to describe a type of crystal lattice structure.
