connive
Significado: To secretly allow or assist wrongdoing; to conspire or plot with others to do something underhand or illegal.
Connive has two overlapping senses: passive complicity ('connive at' something, meaning to turn a blind eye) and active conspiracy ('connive with' someone, meaning to plot together). Both senses are pejorative. In British English, 'connive at' is the more traditional construction and implies deliberate failure to prevent wrongdoing, while 'connive with' suggests active scheming. The noun 'connivance' and adjective 'conniving' are equally common in journalistic and political writing.
