atheist
Significado: A person who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods.
Atheist is more definitive than 'agnostic,' asserting a positive disbelief rather than mere uncertainty. In Britain, where census data shows rising secularism, the word has lost much of its historical stigma, though it can still provoke strong reactions in more religious contexts. Prominent British atheists such as Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens brought the term into mainstream public debate in the 2000s. It is sometimes contrasted with 'humanist' as a less confrontational alternative.
