Should, ought to, had better for advice and criticism
Introducción
El inglés tiene muchas formas de dar consejos, desde sugerencias suaves hasta advertencias fuertes. Saber qué modal usar — y cuándo — es esencial para comunicarse de forma apropiada.
"Should" es versátil y común, mientras que "ought to" suena más formal y moral. "Had better" lleva una amenaza implícita si el consejo no se sigue.
En español distinguimos entre "deberías" (suave), "más vale que" (fuerte) y "tienes que" (obligación). Los modales ingleses hacen distinciones parecidas. Entender estas diferencias te ayuda a dar consejos de forma apropiada en distintas situaciones, desde charlas informales hasta el ámbito profesional.
