Discourse markers and the subjunctive mood

Introducción

Los marcadores discursivos organizan el habla y la escritura a un nivel superior: introducir temas (regarding, as for), secuenciar (first, finally), ejemplificar (namely, for instance) y resumir (in short, to sum up).

El modo subjuntivo en inglés — usar la forma base del verbo después de suggest, demand, insist — es una marca del inglés formal. "I suggest that he leave" suena más sofisticado que "I suggest that he leaves."

En español usamos el subjuntivo constantemente ("sugiero que se vaya"), así que este concepto nos resulta familiar. La diferencia es que en inglés su uso es mucho más limitado y marca un nivel realmente avanzado. Dominar estas características te distingue como un hablante verdaderamente competente.
