Opening act
Significado: The first performer at a concert or show, who plays before the main act.
The opening act warms up the crowd before the headliner. It's often an up-and-coming artist who gets exposure to a larger audience. Being an opening act is a stepping stone — many major artists started as opening acts before becoming headliners.
