Left Coast
Significado: A nickname for the West Coast, playing on its geographic position and progressive politics.
Left Coast is a double entendre: the West Coast is on the left side of the map, and it's politically left-leaning. California, Oregon, and Washington are known for progressive politics, and 'Left Coast' captures both the geography and the ideology. It's used with pride by liberals and sometimes dismissively by conservatives.

Origen e historia
A play on words combining the geographic fact (the Pacific coast is on the left when viewing a standard US map) with political leanings. The term gained currency in the 1990s-2000s as the political divide between coastal and inland America sharpened.
