In the fast lane
Significado: Living an exciting, high-paced lifestyle, or literally driving in the left lane of a highway.
Living in the fast lane means living hard and fast — partying, spending money, taking risks. The Eagles' song 'Life in the Fast Lane' (1977) cemented this metaphor in American culture. Literally, the fast lane (leftmost lane) is for passing on American highways, and people get very passionate about slow drivers blocking it.
