Carb-loading
Significado: Eating large amounts of carbohydrates, originally before athletic events, now used more broadly.
'Carb-loading' started as a legitimate athletic strategy — eating lots of pasta, bread, and rice before a marathon or big race to build energy stores. In modern American usage, it's often used humorously to justify eating a lot of pasta or bread: 'I'm carb-loading' (when you're not actually running a marathon).
