The Parkway
Meaning: The Garden State Parkway — New Jersey's main north-south highway, referred to simply as 'the Parkway' by locals.
In New Jersey, 'the Parkway' always means the Garden State Parkway — the 173-mile highway running the length of the state. It's the artery connecting North Jersey to the Shore, and 'Parkway traffic' is a summer nightmare. NJ also has 'the Turnpike' (NJ Turnpike). Knowing the difference is essential NJ literacy.
