Scenic overlook
Meaning: A designated viewpoint along a road or trail offering panoramic views of the landscape.
Scenic overlooks are the American road trip photo stops. Blue Ridge Parkway, Pacific Coast Highway, and every mountain road have them. 'Pull over at the scenic overlook' is the universal car trip request. Some overlooks are crowded tourist spots; others are hidden gems. They represent the American love of driving through beautiful landscapes and stopping to appreciate the view. Every scenic overlook has been photographed a million times, yet people cannot resist taking their own.
