Pre-med
Meaning: A college track of courses preparing students for medical school, or a student on that track.
'I am pre-med' is one of the most loaded statements in American college life. It signals ambition, intelligence, and a willingness to suffer through organic chemistry, physics, and biology. Pre-med culture is intense — competitive, sleep-deprived, and GPA-obsessed. The MCAT is the final boss. Many start pre-med but switch after organic chemistry ('orgo') destroys their GPA and their spirit. 'I was pre-med but...' is a sentence that a lot of successful professionals begin their career stories with.
