Party school
Meaning: A college or university known more for its active social and party scene than for academics.
'Party school' is a label that some schools wear with pride and others try desperately to shake. Schools like Arizona State, Florida State, and Wisconsin regularly top 'party school' rankings. 'It is a party school' can be a recommendation or a warning depending on who is talking. The reality is that every large university has a party scene — the label sticks to schools where it is particularly visible. Being a party school does not mean academics are bad; many top party schools are also excellent research universities.
