Friendly fire
Meaning: Accidental attack on allies; unintentional harm from someone on your own side.
Military term for when forces accidentally shoot at or bomb their own troops. In civilian use, it describes being hurt by people who are supposed to be on your side — like a coworker throwing you under the bus or a friend making an embarrassing comment.
