Dining hall
Meaning: A college cafeteria where students with meal plans eat, offering buffet-style food.
The dining hall (or 'D-hall') is the social hub of campus life, especially for freshmen. All-you-can-eat buffets serve everything from pizza to stir-fry. Quality varies dramatically between schools. 'Dining hall food' is both a complaint ('the chicken is rubber') and a nostalgic memory. The dining hall is where you eat with friends, study between classes, and experience the freshman fifteen firsthand. Some schools have legendary dining halls; others are infamous for terrible food.
